Youth Session: From Your Hands…to Their Hearts  Audience: Designed for elementary and junior high age kids attending the conference with their parents.
I’ve presented this session twice and both times it went well. We talk together about what they’ve personally experienced during this and other separations and what THEY liked to do to stay connected. We share these ideas with others in the group. Then we talk about the “Hand Drawing” idea from the book (Idea #1) and each child creates their own drawing during class to take to their parents when they leave. After discussing the idea, they know how to describe the value of the drawing to their parents and to ask that the parent do THEIR own drawing for their child. This creates a special connection between them, and this is often hard to do with this age group!
